IEEE 2800
IEEE 2800 is the standard that sets minimum interconnection and performance requirements for inverter based resources, such as solar, wind, and batteries, connecting to transmission and subtransmission systems.
Published in April 2022, it covers voltage and frequency ride through, frequency response, active and reactive power control, power quality, protection, and the measurement data a plant must provide. Most of those requirements are implemented at the plant level by the power plant controller rather than by individual inverters. Grid operators adopt it through their interconnection processes, so compliance is becoming a condition of connecting a large plant.
