Dispatch Algorithm
A dispatch algorithm is the control logic inside an energy management system that decides what a battery does, such as charging in cheap hours or holding a facility under a demand ceiling.
Each algorithm answers the same question on a schedule: what power should the battery move right now? Peak shaving watches the site meter and discharges to cap demand. Time of use arbitrage charges when energy is cheap and discharges when it is dear. Frequency regulation follows a grid operator signal. Solar self consumption absorbs surplus generation. An EMS holds these in a library and runs the ones a site needs as scheduled tasks, with an operator panel for each.
