SunSpec Modbus
SunSpec Modbus is an open information model that standardizes the Modbus register maps of solar inverters, meters, and storage systems, so one driver can read many brands.
The SunSpec Alliance defines models, numbered blocks of registers with fixed meanings, for inverter measurements, controls, meters, strings, and batteries. A device that implements them can be discovered and read without a vendor specific map. IEEE 1547-2018 names SunSpec Modbus as one of the three protocols a distributed resource may use to meet its communication requirement.
