Solar Self Consumption

Solar self consumption is storing surplus solar generation in a battery during the day and using it on site later, instead of exporting it to the grid at a low price.

It matters where export is paid poorly or not allowed. The energy management system charges the battery from the surplus, which also keeps the site under its export limit, and discharges it in the evening when the tariff is high and the solar is gone. The result is a higher share of the facility’s load met by its own solar and a lower bill.
