NERC CIP
NERC CIP is the set of mandatory Critical Infrastructure Protection reliability standards that govern the cybersecurity of the bulk electric system in North America.
The standards cover identifying critical cyber systems, security management, personnel training, electronic and physical security perimeters, system security management, incident reporting, recovery planning, configuration change management, and supply chain risk. They bind the registered entities that own and operate bulk electric system assets. A storage or solar plant above the applicability thresholds brings its controls into scope, so an EMS or PPC vendor is asked to show how the product supports CIP compliance.
