New Project in Des Plaines, IL pairs WATTMORE's patented Intellect Operate EMS platform with GTI Energy to work on advancing hydrogen-based microgrid research through battery energy storage initiatives.
DENVER (September 24, 2026) -- WATTMORE, a Colorado-based energy technology software company, today announced that they have been awarded a project with GTI Energy to support infrastructure energy security and resilience.
GTI Energy is an energy research and technology development organization headquartered in Des Plaines, IL, which is focused on developing, scaling, and deploying solutions for better performing energy systems. WATTMORE will act as their energy management partner in this project.
GTI Energy’s main project is advancing hydrogen-based microgrid research by integrating battery energy storage into an existing microgrid testbed in GTI Energy’s facility in Des Plaines.
“Building more resilient energy systems requires understanding how emerging technologies work together in an operational environment,” said Kristine Wiley, Vice President of Energy Systems and Technology Integration at GTI Energy. “This testbed allows us to evaluate the integration of hydrogen, energy storage, and advanced controls as a system, generating the practical insights needed to move promising solutions from development toward deployment.” For this project, WATTMORE will deploy its patented Intellect Operate Energy Management System (EMS) to coordinate the testbed’s battery energy storage system, hydrogen fuel cell, programmable load banks, and DC grid charger.
