WATTMORE is proud to announce that it has been approved by the Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) Working Group (WG) to provide Performance Data Provider (PDP) services for SGIP projects, using its Intellect EnFORM Data Acquisition System (DAS) to deliver the required performance data. Final approval will follow completion of the standard data transfer test.
Effective immediately, WATTMORE can provide the following SGIP data services:
Energy Storage Electrical Metering
Electrical Generation Metering
Thermal Output Metering
Fuel Consumption Metering
This approval expands WATTMORE’s ability to support energy storage and distributed energy projects in California while showcasing another capability of the Intellect platform.
What Is SGIP?
California’s Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) provides incentives for qualifying distributed energy resources, including energy storage and other technologies installed on the customer side of the meter. The program is designed to encourage the deployment of technologies that can improve grid reliability, support resiliency, and reduce energy costs and emissions.
For developers and system owners, participating in SGIP can provide significant financial support for eligible projects. But SGIP also requires participating systems to demonstrate their performance through accurate, ongoing data collection and reporting.
That is where a Performance Data Provider (PDP) comes in.
What Does a PDP Do?
A PDP is responsible for collecting and reporting the performance data required by SGIP. Depending on the project, this can include data related to energy storage, electrical generation, thermal output, and fuel consumption.
The PDP collects data from the project's meters and equipment, validates and stores that data, and provides the required information to the SGIP Program Administrator. For applicable projects, system owners are required to contract with an approved PDP for ongoing performance reporting.
For developers, selecting a reliable PDP is an important part of bringing an SGIP project online and maintaining compliance with program requirements.
WATTMORE as an SGIP PDP
WATTMORE's Intellect EnFORM is designed to provide the data acquisition and monitoring infrastructure needed for complex energy projects. EnFORM connects to equipment including revenue-grade meters, inverters, battery management systems, weather stations, and other site devices to collect and standardize operational data.
WATTMORE can now use EnFORM to provide the required performance data services for participating SGIP projects.
EnFORM is vendor-agnostic and supports a wide range of equipment and communication protocols, allowing WATTMORE to work across different project configurations and hardware providers.
Beyond SGIP reporting, EnFORM provides developers and asset owners with visibility into project performance, including real-time monitoring, historical data, automated alarms, data validation, and portfolio-level reporting.
A PDP That Does More Than Collect Data
SGIP performance data is more than a compliance requirement. The same data can give developers and asset owners valuable insight into how their systems are operating.
With EnFORM, project owners can use their SGIP data infrastructure to monitor assets, identify performance issues, verify system output, and better understand project performance over time.
For projects that also require active battery control, WATTMORE's Intellect Operate EMS can work alongside EnFORM, combining data acquisition and monitoring with intelligent energy management. Intellect Operate EMS can provide custom dispatch schedules, oversee battery health, and support grid optimization and adherence.
